Three BTU students are among the winners of this year's Schinkel Competition.

In the "Urban Design" category, Stella Motz and Julius Rymarcewicz received the Schinkel Prize for their design "Quartier 104". Mahlaga Fahami, together with Abu Sayeed Mohammed Ziad and Pubali Kumar (Anhalt University of Applied Sciences), was awarded the 3rd Diesing Prize of the Karl Friedrich Schinkel Foundation in the "Architecture" category for their design "In-Between".

The winners of the 168th AIV Schinkel Competition have been announced. The Association of Architects and Engineers of Berlin-Brandenburg (AIV) announced the competition under the title "City instead of A 104". The question posed in the various disciplines was what urban planning, traffic, architectural, artistic and landscape design opportunities would result from the decommissioning of Berlin's A 104 autobahn.

The participants in the competition developed their own ideas for the transformation of the entire route of the former A 104 between the A 100 and the A 103, resulting in visionary plans for the subsequent use of the former Berlin autobahn. The tasks were handled in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, urban planning, landscape architecture, traffic planning and fine arts.

The Schinkel Competition is one of the best-known and oldest German prizes for young designers. In addition to the traditional Schinkel Prizes, many other awards were presented. Over 100 entries were received from young planners, 13 of which received awards. This year, prize money totaling 27,000 euros was awarded.
