Master concert with worldwide celebrated guitarist

Music lovers are invited to a special concert experience on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 6 p.m. on the Cottbus-Sachsendorf campus of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) at Lipezker Straße 47. Professor Marco Tamayo will give a guest performance in the concert hall of the Institute for Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy.

In this master concert, the Cuban guitarist will perform entertaining works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Fernando Sor, Edvard Grieg, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Agustin Barrios-Mangoré, among others.

Marco Tamayo began his concert career as a child prodigy at the tender age of six and won many of the most important international competitions. He gave countless concerts as a soloist with renowned orchestras and conductors. He has held professorships in Sydney, Gdansk and Klagenfurt and currently teaches at both the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Berlin University of the Arts. He is artistic director of the international competitions in Alessandria and Klagenfurt.

This first of two concerts with internationally outstanding guitarists will be followed by Danilo Kunze's master concert on Saturday, May 13, at 6 p.m. at the same venue. Admission is free in both cases, but a donation in support of the Cottbus Guitar Association is requested.

Background Both concerts are organized by the Association for the Promotion of Classical Guitar in Cottbus and Brandenburg e. V., which was founded by teachers and students of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. The aim is to promote the classical guitar in the region and beyond, and to provide interested people of all ages with a lively cultural and informative program. In doing so, the promotion of young talent receives special attention: all events, including individual master classes, are accessible to interested guitar students* at a low-threshold level and are intended to help provide them with inspiration, motivation and professional know-how for their personal artistic development.
