BTU student Selina Hartmann takes part in TV show "99 - One:r beats them all!"

Selina is studying Therapy Sciences at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. As of today, she can be seen every Monday evening in the TV show "99 - Eine:r schlägt sie alle!". In the show, she and 98 other candidates will compete for victory in 99 fun games. The winner receives 99,000 euros.

We talked to Selina about her participation:

"I watched the first two seasons of the show and just wanted to try it out for myself," the student recalls. So she applies. And then comes the day when the decision is made. Selina is currently completing an internship. She is treating her first patients in the physiotherapy practice at Bischofswerda Hospital in Saxony. It's lunch break when the call comes. "Yes, Selina, you're in". The joy is great. In October 2022, she packs her suitcase.

"I was aware, of course, that I would have to take time out of my studies for the period of recording," Selina says. "Fortunately, the period was largely foreseeable, so I was able to work the content well before and after. The biggest problem was the upcoming final professional exams. I took my folders, scripts and binders with me to the shoot to study during breaks. Let's put it this way: The idea was good, the implementation... Let's not talk about it "

Nevertheless, she is convinced: "It was the best time of my life." A time of self-awareness, in which she learned her limits. "I know now how excited you can be," she tells. And that it's not at all as easy in the situation as it looks on screen later, she says she now realizes. But in February, when she took her final vocational exams, she says she was able to benefit from her experience on the game show. "I learned how to stay calm and focused in exam situations," she says.

Selina came to BTU's Campus Senftenberg in 2019 to study Therapy Sciences. "After tearing my cruciate ligament during high school graduation in 2018, I spent many hours in physical therapy as part of my rehabilitation. I realized that I was fascinated by the work of my therapists* at that time, I found the medical-anatomical background super exciting and I would like to learn and be able to do that myself. So the decision was made to finish my philosophy degree at the time and transfer to BTU."

Now she is at the end of her studies, has her professional degree in the bag and is very satisfied to have gone this way: "I have learned an incredible amount during my time at the BTU - not only about the optimal patient care in a therapeutic context, but also to question existing therapy concepts and to dare to "think outside the box" and true. I am grateful to have received all the knowledge, advice and food for thought from the lecturers along the way. Now it's time to take this into the practices!"

Thank you for the interview and good luck with the show!
