MINT-EC School Leadership Conference 2023

In cooperation with the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) and the Max-Steenbeck-Gymnasium Cottbus, the national excellence school network MINT-EC is hosting its annual school management conference at the BTU's main campus in Cottbus.

Around 400 school principals and teachers from schools in the national Excellence School Network MINT-EC will come together on November 3 and 4 for a joint exchange of ideas and further training. The highlight of the conference is the live voting on the winners of the MINT-EC schoolcompetition  of the Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation. Seven entries from different MINT-EC schools on the topic of "Climate change in and at school" will be presented on November 3. The results will be included in the subsequent jury meeting. On November 4, the three winners will be announced and will receive 7000 euros to implement their projects within one year.

Two new MINT-EC subject clusters for specialist teachers, coordinated by the BTU, will also be presented. The goal of the clusters is to design lively and practical STEM lessons with current impulses from research.

Starting at noon on November 3, participants will receive exciting contributions from science and education, for example, at the Education Market, where companies and universities will be represented. SAP, Siemens and the Hasso Plattner Institute are among the participants. At the networking forum by and for schools, MINT-EC schools will present their projects and exchange ideas across state borders.

The BTU is an official university partner of the national excellence school network of schools with upper secondary level and a distinctive profile in Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Technology- MINT-EC. The goals of the partnership are in particular to support students from schools with a focus on science and technology in their decision to study by familiarizing them with study options in STEM subjects and to attract prospective students to STEM studies.
