DFG Review Board election 2023: Preliminary result is fixed

The online election of DFG review board members took place from October 23 to November 20, 2023. The provisional election results were published by the DFG. Prof. Katja Trachte, Prof. Jörg Nolte and Prof. Lars Enghardt were elected. The final election results will be announced in February 2024.

A total of 54,068 academics took part in the election. There were 1,631 candidates for the 649 places on the 49 review boards. Around 150,000 eligible researchers were able to choose from the list of candidates to represent their chair on the DFG's review boards over the next four years.

The review board members have the task of scientifically evaluating proposals for funding research projects and ensuring that the same quality standards and comparable criteria are applied in all DFG funding procedures.

According to the preliminary election results published by the DFG on November 24, the following scientists were elected by BTU:

  • Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Katja Trachte
    Chair of Atmospheric Processes, Faculty 2
    Review Board: 3.45 Geography
    Subject: 3.45-01 Physical Geography
  • Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Nolte
    Chair of Distributed Systems / Operating Systems, Faculty 1
    Review Board: 4.43 Computer Science
    Subject: 4.43-03 Security and Reliability, Operating, Communication and Distributed Systems.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Lars Enghardt was also elected to review board 4.22 Fluid Mechanics, Technical Thermodynamics and Thermal Energy Technology, subject 4.22-03 Fluid Mechanics, via the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Prof. Dr. Lars Enghardt took over the professorship for Electrified Aircraft Propulsion Systems at BTU's Faculty 3 of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Energy Systems on 1 May 2023 in a joint appointment with DLR.

The DFG President is expected to announce the final election results in February of next year. The newly appointed review boards will then be constituted at their first meetings in spring 2024.
