The guest student program "WISSEN FÜR ALLE" starts into a diverse summer semester

The Open University brings together students, professionals and people who want to continue their education after graduation. As every semester, we offer a wide range of courses, workshops, project groups and excursions. The new program will be published with a catalog hot off the press at the end of March. The courses start in the second week of April.

Studying without the pressure to perform

Visit our information and introductory events at the start of the summer semester. We will give you an overview of our program and answer your questions. Last-minute students can enrol directly.

  • On April 10 at 2 p.m., we will start on Campus Senftenberg directly before the first lecture of the SeniorenAkademie.
  • For the open day on April 25, you can find us in the central lecture theatre building (ZHG) on the main campus.

With a wide range of subjects and different teaching and learning formats from the "WISSEN FÜR ALLE" education program, you can shape your personal learning path according to your inclinations. Cultural partnerships with important institutions in the region and exciting excursions expand the range of courses on offer. In the open seminars from the regular program, guest auditors with a professional or personal interest can attend lectures together with BTU students and keep their knowledge up to date.

The program includes courses designed to make it easier to start or return to learning - from a writing workshop with author Franziska Steinhauer to a library rally to search for literature and digital participation in video conferencing systems. Other seminars, courses and workshops are dedicated to literature and theater or deal with current issues. The SeniorenAkademielecture series has grown particularly large this year: It offers 15 lectures this semester, which can be experienced both in the lecture theatre on Campus Senftenberg and online.

Artistic ambitions are also being funded, as are introductions to the use of smartphones and tablets. A 3D printing workshop in the COLab, an extensive range of excursions, language courses, the wide range of services offered by the university library at three BTU locations in Cottbus and Senftenberg and numerous courses from the university's extensive sports program make for an attractive program.

The program is enriched by the nationwide online lecture series "Zeitenwenden: Freedom and democracy in transition?", an offer from the institutions for academic continuing education for older people and the Federal Working Group for Academic Continuing Education for Older People(BAG WiWA). Against the backdrop of the Science Year 2024 and with a view to 75 years of the Basic Law, the popular series explores the question of the topicality and resilience of our understanding of democracy and freedom.

The guest student program Open University - KNOWLEDGE FOR ALL is an integral part of the intergenerational campus of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and presents BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg as a reliable educational partner for lifelong learning. The guest student program enables all those interested in education to further their education in individual areas of knowledge at the university. Participants study without examinations or pressure to perform. There are no age restrictions or admission requirements. In addition to imparting knowledge, it is important to create opportunities for social exchange and to open up spaces for ideas.
