Kickoff for MINT women's network at BTU

On April 5, 2024, the kick-off event for the STEM Women's Network took place at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. It was aimed at all female students studying a STEM subject. 20 participants took part in the kick-off meeting. Together with the STEM ambassadors Ramona Riedel and Pascal Fritzsche, they founded the new internal BTU network.

They were supported by Birgit Hendrischke, the university's central equal opportunities officer, who gave a welcome address. In her keynote speech, business coach Andrea Kunwald emphasized the special features and success factors for women in STEM professions.

BTU graduate Victoria Liedtke reported on her successful path into science - from her bachelor's degree in Biotechnology in Senftenberg to her doctoral studies. She motivated and inspired the participants to stay on the ball and find solutions even in difficult life situations. The mother of three children is now starting her habilitation at BTU. In the subsequent workshop, the participants worked out strategies on how they will cooperate with regional and national networks in the future and how they will communicate the benefits of their network to the outside world.

The BTU's STEM women's network aims to improve networking between female STEM students so that they can find contacts more quickly if they have any questions. In addition, the regular network meetings will make it easier for female STEM students to meet like-minded people and exchange ideas. The next network meeting will take place on June 3, 2024, 5:30 p.m. in the faculty hall of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Energy Systems in teaching building 3A on the main campus. Interested female STEM students at BTU are welcome to attend. Registration by e-mail is requested: mint-botschafter@b-tu.de
