What do you do in the event of an accident? What is the emergency number? Pulled, torn or even a crash landing? What is important for wounds? What can I do for burns? What if a tick has bitten me? What do I do if I have been stung by a wasp?

Under the motto "Children help children", the children are introduced to the basic elements of first aid. They learn interesting facts about emergency calls, how to address injured people, how to apply plasters and bandages, how to recognize a head injury professionally, how to treat wounds and how to perform the recovery position in an emergency. They are also given helpful tips on accident prevention: so that children stay healthy, live happily and know how to help themselves.

Background
Children's lectures are designed to awaken an interest in solving scientific and other problems at an early age and give children the opportunity to experience the flair of a university. BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg gives schoolchildren from the third to sixth grades the opportunity to get a taste of university life and teaches solutions to everyday scientific phenomena in a child-friendly, exciting way. This encourages formative experiences that awaken the youngest children's interest in science and reduce their inhibitions about university.
