It's about future-oriented land use in Lusatia
The FutureForum is aimed at all interested stakeholders from agriculture, science, business, environmental protection, politics and civil society for whom sustainability in land use is important. With a panel discussion, thematic sessions and excursions, participants will gain insights into the various facets of possible forms of land use and the development of a sustainable bioeconomy. They will also have the opportunity to exchange perspectives and take part in discussions. The Land-Innovation-Lausitz (LIL) research alliance, led by BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) e.V., together with its partner institutions, aims to bring together as many interest groups as possible for a constructive exchange. The FutureForum Land Use offers an ideal platform for this.
Registration deadline is Thursday, September 12, 2024.
The event is free of charge. Places for the forum are limited. Registrations will be considered in the order in which they are received.
The discussions will focus on the opportunities and challenges of climate-adapted land use and sustainable bioeconomy as potential drivers of innovation in Lusatia: Participants will discuss, for example, how landscapes can be designed in a sustainable way, what potential multiple use of scarce land offers, what regional value creation can look like and how networks from agriculture and science can reform the agricultural sector.

The WIR! alliance Land-Innovation-Lausitz
The aim of Land-Innovation-Lausitz (LIL) is to develop Lusatia into a model region for adapting land use to climate change with the help of innovative technologies and sustainable forms of use on a bioeconomic basis. More than 50 partners from research, business, agriculture, politics and administration are currently working together to achieve this.
The research and development projects focus on the innovation areas of soil, plants and materials, the integration area of cultural landscape and the cross-sectional area of digitalization and sensor technology. The project teams come from both science and practice and conduct research into resource-efficient cultivation systems, drought stress-resistant crops and bio-based plastics, among other things.
LIL is jointly managed by the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) and the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) e.V. and is funded as part of the "Change through Innovation in the Region" (WIR!) program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
