Prospects for scientific cooperation with South Korea

On 28 October 2024, an six-member delegation from Jeju National University visited the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) to explore opportunities for cooperation in research and teaching in the field of sustainable energy production.

The delegation, led by the Vice President of Jeju National University, Prof. Dr Chulung Kang, was welcomed to BTU by the Full-time Vice President for Research and Transfer, Prof. Dr Michael Hübner. The subject of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in which both universities express their intention to work closely together in the research and development of "green" energy technologies in the future.

In this context, the guests learnt about current projects at BTU's Cottbus main campus and discussed specific opportunities for cooperation with scientists at the Institute of Electrical and Thermal Energy Systems.

Both institutions want to fund and deepen specialised contacts between the research institutes in the future. In addition to joint research and teaching activities on sustainable energy generation, the focus will be on scientific exchange. In addition, both universities are endeavouring to exchange students and graduates and encourage staff members to undertake teaching and research stays at the respective partner institution.

The successful implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, which is valid for a period of three years, offers the opportunity to deepen cooperation in the future and to sign a cooperation agreement.
