"Youth Piano International" - a special piano recital at the BTU in Cottbus-Sachsendorf

Outstanding students and alumni of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg's (BTU) studies leading to certification in artistic education will be helping to shape the 50th Cottbus Musikherbst. On Tuesday, 12 November 2024, at 7 pm, they will present piano works by Brandenburg composers and international masters of the 20th and 21st centuries.

This highly colourful programme awaits listeners in the concert hall at the Cottbus-Sachsendorf campus of the BTU in Lipezker Straße 47, House 7. Admission is free, donations are requested.

In addition to some highly interesting works by Brandenburg composers, the programme includes works from the classical modern and late romantic periods. Concertgoers will encounter exotic pieces such as an excerpt from Godowski's Java Suite or one of Toru Takemitsu's Raintree Sketches and masterpieces such as the colossal Chaconne by Sofia Gubaidulina. These are juxtaposed with virtuoso, humorous and witty smaller works. The programme concludes with the wild final movement from Prokofiev's 7th Piano Sonata - played by Wolfgang Glemser. Dr Bernhard Reichenbach will moderate this colourful evening, which is well worth listening to.

The young performers from the piano classes of Veronika Glemser and Professor Wolfgang Glemser come from South America and Asia, among other countries. This project should also serve as an impetus for them to perform contemporary literature from their respective home countries as well as their place of study and to integrate it into their repertoire in the future.
