On November 12, 2024, Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg warmly welcomed its new DAAD scholarship recipients and invited them to a meet-and-greet event at the university’s main building. The international students at BTU, hailing from 23 countries and supported for their commitment and academic achievements, enrich university life as they study and conduct research across a variety of fields.

The students come from countries including Mexico, Spain, Yemen, Colombia, Afghanistan, and Serbia, pursuing degrees in fields such as Electrical Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture, and Physics. Their unique perspectives contribute to the university's international diversity.

A highlight of the event was a presentation by Ms. Freda Adiali from Ghana, who is completing her PhD in Culture and Technology. Her reflections provided fascinating insights into her research experiences and underscored the important role of international scholars at BTU.

The welcome event, hosted by Prof. Dr. Wolfram Berger, Vice President for Internationalization, and Mr. Kai Franke, Head of the DAAD Capital Office, also featured a presentation by Ms. Katja Brinschwitz, Advisor for the Integration of International Students, who introduced the extensive support services available at BTU. The gathering included an open discussion session and a shared snack buffet, promoting interaction among students, DAAD representatives, and university members.

With 44% of its 6,800 students coming from over 120 countries, BTU is one of the most internationally diverse universities in Germany. The DAAD scholars contribute to BTU’s cultural diversity and serve as ambassadors for the university and the Lausitz region—both in Germany and in their home countries.
