Student Christmas market on the BTU Campus Senftenberg

Traditionally, and this year too, university members and visitors from the region can be enchanted by the Christmas flair at the BTU in Senftenberg on Wednesday and Thursday, 11 and 12 December 2024, from 4 pm to 9 pm.

For the eleventh student Christmas market since 2012, BTU students are welcoming their guests to the Konrad Zuse Media Centre, Building 11, of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) with free admission.

In the ten Christmas huts - provided by the city of Senftenberg and festively decorated by the operators - they will find both savoury and sweet treats as well as small gift ideas. Mulled wine, waffles, grilled food, Asian specialities, knitted items and accessories are just a few examples of the wide range on offer. Father Christmas will also be out and about with small gifts.

A varied programme enrichesthe Student Christmas Market.
On Wednesday 11 December at 5 pm, visitors can look forward to chemistry experiments by students Johann Malte Hübner and Moritz Kaschube, live Christmas music by Instrumental and Vocal Performance and Teaching students at 6 pm and a performance by the Scharfe Dance School at 7 pm.
On Thursday, 12 December, the Lusatian Bridge Building Competition will take place from 4 to 6 pm. Live Christmas music from students can be heard again from 7 pm.

The Lusatian Bridge Building Competition is the traditional student bridge building competition for Mechanical Engineering students and will be held on 12 December from 4 p.m. in the Konrad Zuse Media Centre alongside the Christmas market. Numerous BTU student teams from Senftenberg and Cottbus as well as teams from two Senftenberg schools have registered to take part with their self-constructed structures. The aim of the bridge-building competition is to construct a bridge from a maximum of 250 ice cream sticks, 20 metres of parcel string and wood glue that can carry as much load as possible with as little weight as possible. The bridges are alternately subjected to a load test on a specially developed test stand until they break.
The competition is organised by the Construction working group at Campus Senftenberg. Further information: https://www.b-tu.de/brueckenbauwettbewerb/

The Round Table of Departmental Committees at BTU Senftenberg is organising the Student Christmas Market as a whole.
The student councils are looking forward to welcoming numerous visitors of all ages. In addition to the city of Senftenberg and the BTU, the company ACTEMIUM is once again supporting this project.
