Important information about the eduroam WLAN

Change of the certificate hierarchy

Due to the imminent discontinuation of the operation of the certificate hierarchy"USERTrust ECC Certification Authority" within the DFN-PKI, there will be an impact on the operation of the wireless LAN (eduroam) at BTU Cottbus - Senftenberg.

In January 2026, the login server for the eduroam WLAN will be converted to a new SSL certificate, which will then be issued within the"HARICA TLS ECC Root CA 2021". As a result, members of BTU will no longer be able to use the eduroam WLAN with the currently valid settings from this point onwards.

It is therefore imperative that members of the BTU who use the eduroam WLAN must reconfigure their WLAN end devices. The Wi-Fi profiles provided under Download should be used for this purpose. From 29 January 2025, these are designed to enable the use of the eduroam WLAN now, but also after the changeover date - i.e. from January 2026. To avoid unwanted interactions, we recommend deleting the old settings for the eduroam WLAN before reconfiguring.

If necessary, please also use the configuration instructions for using the eduroam WLAN.
