GRAZIOSO
The second concert of the newly founded ‘Open Symphonic Orchestra’ takes you musically from the cool forests of Scandinavia to the warming sun of southern Europe with ‘GraziOSO’.
‘Oi Suomi, katso, sinun päiväs koittaa
Yön uhka karkoiettu on jonpois’
(O homeland, see the bright wings of the morning,
who victoriously overcame night and gloom.")
Sibelius' “Finlandia” shows the beauty of Finland. This symphonic poem still has great patriotic and emotional significance for its homeland (‘Suomi’, Finnish).
Philipp Seidel travels to the dances of Spanish culture with Joaquin Rodrigo's ‘Concerto de Aranjuez’ for guitar and orchestra. Let yourself be whisked away to the city of the ‘Font Màgica’, ‘Grant Teatre del Liceu’ and ‘Mercat de la Boqueria’ - to Barcelona - where the world premiere took place in 1940.
The film continues on a bench at a bus stop in Georgia, USA. Alan Silvestri wrote the ‘Forrest Gump Suite’ to match the film, which was awarded six Oscars.
With the significant opening bars of Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto, Wolfgang Glemser takes us once again to Northern Europe to the ‘Land along the narrow fjords’, where the ‘Hallingdans’ is danced.
Finally, you land on the Pacific island of ‘Isla Nublar’, where you can marvel at all kinds of dinosaurs together with John Williams' soundtrack. A huge park in the tropics, where there are Velociraptors, Mosasauridae Triceratops and also a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Please don't feed them!
This can all go into the orchestra's donation baskets.
