Sustainable production

Experts from research and practice will talk about increasing efficiency in production processes at the Cross-Cluster Conference on Sustainable Production. Hosted by the Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation (WFBB), the conference will take place on Thursday, 10 July 2025, in the start-up centre on the main campus of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

The Cross-Cluster Conference on Sustainable Production focuses on the efficiency of resources and its potential for Brandenburg's entrepreneurship - from automation and resource savings through lightweight construction technologies to digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence.

Scientists provide information about their research or networks on five innovation tours:

  • Tour 1 Saving with innovations: Lightweight materials of the future - insights into research & innovation at Panta Rhei Innovative
  • Tour 2 Manufacturing for the energy of tomorrow - New manufacturing technologies for components and systems for decentralised energy technology at the 3H Research Centre and the SpreeTec neXt project.
  • Tour 3 Making processes more efficient - The model factory brings the future of automation, robotics and AI to life and shows how digital technologies and innovative production processes help to reduce CO₂ emissions and conserve resources.
  • Tour 4 The future of sensor technology: A laboratory tour through various applications in microsensor technology, digitalisation and optoelectronic systems with insights into applications for agriculture, environmental monitoring and maintenance in the iCampus and OASYS projects.
  • Tour 5 Specialists for the future of your company - Recruiting with the BTU Career Centre

15:45 Panel discussion: Innovations for growth and stabilisation - what role does resource efficiency play?

In the exhibition area, visitors will gain further insights into the BTU:

  • The Research Centre for Landscape Development and Mining Landscapes (FZLB), in future as the Centre for Landscape Transformation, develops solutions for sustainable land use in structural change.
  • The Lusatia Science Park (LSP) covers future fields such as energy transition, decarbonisation, life sciences, AI and sensor technology.
  • Centre for Continuing Education offers programmes for professional qualification in the context of sustainability.
  • Start-ups such as HochQuant show how scientific ideas can be turned into market-ready innovations.

Brandenburg Innovation Award 2025

The ceremonial presentation of the Brandenburg Innovation Award, which honours visionary projects and outstanding achievements in the state's clusters. They exemplify the innovative power that arises when industries work together - and when science and business join forces. Minister of Economic Affairs Keller honoured three companies for their innovations. The winners were the "WFS Clearwater Lift" from AMS Alteno GmbH, the "reffiSchaf" project from the project consortium Frankenförder Forschungsgesellschaft mbH, Biomanufaktur Havelland GmbH and Gut Hirschaue GmbH & Co. KG and the "MB fire-resistant wooden fire door" from the project consortium MB Fensterbau Beelitz GmbH and MB Brandschutztischlerei Beelitz GmbH. Two special prizes were also awarded: These went to Potsdam-based Sectorlens GmbH for its AI-supported platform “Find Your Software” and to CanChip GmbH from Potsdam for the “Tumor-on-Chip Models” project.
