Completion EUNICE Entrepreneurship Lab 2025

40 EUNICE participants divided into 11 multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, 13 online workshops, a summer school and a tech hackathon – this diverse programme was offered from 14 March to 4 July this year by the Entrepreneurship Lab (E-Lab) at our partner university, the University of Catania in Italy.

The EUNICE Entrepreneurship Laboratory (E-ELab) was established with the objective of equipping students with transversal skills in entrepreneurship, encompassing problem-solving, innovative thinking, effective communication and teamwork. The programme was designed for students with a passion for innovation challenges and a desire to transform their business ideas into tangible realities.

As part of the E-Lab, participants were shown how to use tools for validating ideas and assessing entrepreneurial potential in dynamic contexts. The five BTU participants were able to learn with other EUNICE participants and benefit from the expertise of external companies specialising in innovation, as well as from partnerships with local small, medium-sized and large enterprises. The programme was complemented by a network of EUNICE mentors and coaches, who contributed to the development of soft skills and provided support and guidance to the participants in their work.

The programme comprised a total of 13 workshops covering a wide range of topics. These included the blue economy in relation to ocean health, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, aspects focusing on older people, smart cities, cultural heritage, augmented reality applications and numerous other topics. The students were required to complete the workshops by taking a multiple-choice test and submitting a written assignment. This was followed by a one-week summer school in Catania, where the students participated in the Tech Hackathon on the topic of 'Bridging Cultures, Sparking Innovation' and had to pitch their ideas to the other teams. One student from each partner university was awarded the prize for an internship abroad. Francisco Föse, the representative of the EUNICE Student Advisory Board at the BTU, won the competition for the BTU. All participants were awarded ECTS credits in recognition of their contributions to the E-Lab activity.

The EUNICE team would like to express our sincere gratitude to Prof. Mißler-Behr, Dr. Viktor Zakar and his colleagues from the Chair of ABWL, in particular Planning, Innovation and Start-ups, who have contributed to the E-Lab with great commitment and enthusiasm, thereby ensuring the successful running of the EUNICE Entrepreneurship Laboratory.

The complete programme can be viewed here. The EUNICE team looks forward to the next E-Lab expected in the upcoming year.
