WISSEN FÜR ALLE - BTU's guest student programme starts in October with a varied winter programme
Studying without the pressure to perform: From October 2025, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) is inviting students to take part in the WISSEN FÜR ALLE guest student programme. The open educational programme is aimed at all interested parties and offers a unique opportunity to experience university up close.
Under the motto "Discover the new, deepen the tried and tested", this semester's programme once again offers a wide range of opportunities to learn together, exchange ideas and critically examine current social issues. Participants can expect a varied programme of lectures, seminars, workshops and discussion groups. Whether culture, science, technology, society or politics - the programme provides insights into numerous chairs and invites people of all ages to actively experience university.
Technology meets creativity
From 3D printing specials for Halloween and Christmas to a radio day with Freies Radio Cottbus - participants can experience innovative learning formats that combine practice, creativity and technology. The popular writing workshop with author Franziska Steinhauer is also entering a new round.
Focus on society
With excursions and seminars on Jewish life in Cottbus, a contemporary witness project group and a seminar on security organisation in a globally changing situation, the programme offers space for discussion, a culture of remembrance and a look at current social issues.
Experience the region and science
A visit to the chesco research factory provides insights into future technologies, while the project "99 objects from Lusatia - grasping the future" links regional identity with future topics. Other excursions take visitors to the Schwarze Pumpe power station and Cottbus zoo.
In addition to new highlights, the guest student programme also includes long-standing favourites:
- The Senior Academy with weekly lectures - also online - has been a crowd-puller for years.
- The language course programme funds lifelong language skills.
- The sports courses in around 70 different sports encourage active exercise.
- The use of the university library in Cottbus and Senftenberg supports individual learning.
- Thanks to numerous cultural partnerships - from the Cottbus State Theatre to the zoo and regional museums - participants enjoy discounted access to cultural institutions.
Open seminars
A special highlight: guest auditors can attend regular BTU lectures and experience real campus life - without the pressure of exams. The programme ranges from natural sciences and engineering to humanities and social sciences to health and cultural studies.
Enrolment options and insights can be found on the ZWW website.
