Orange the World 2025 in Cottbus

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a joint campaign by the city of Cottbus/Chóśebuz and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg will take place on Tuesday, November 25, 2025: the ceremonial raising of the orange flag on the town hall forecourt as a sign of non-violent coexistence.

The event begins at 1 p.m. and will be opened by Lord Mayor Tobias Schick, the municipal Equal Opportunities Officer Aline Erdmann and Birgit Hendrischke, Equal Opportunities Officer at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Interested parties are cordially invited to attend.

This will be followed by an accompanying event at BlechenCARRÉ from 3 to 6 p.m. with music, creative activities for children and moderated discussions. Numerous organisations will be presenting their violence prevention and counselling services. In addition to a BTU stand, these include the Violence Prevention Unit, Amnesty International Cottbus, the Women's Centre Cottbus e.V. with MiA, the Cottbus Women's Shelter and many more. The Cottbus police also offer anonymous individual consultations in a separate room on site.

To show its support for the "Orange the World" campaign, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg will also be hoisting orange flags at all of its locations. In addition, the Information, Communication and Media Centre (IKMZ) will be illuminated in orange to send a visible signal against violence against women.
