Students invite you to the Christmas market on the BTU Campus Senftenberg

In addition to university members, visitors from the region will have the opportunity to be enchanted by the Christmas flair at the BTU in Senftenberg on Wednesday and Thursday, 10 and 11 December 2025, from 3 pm to 10 pm.

The students welcome their guests to the traditional student Christmas market with free admission in the area of the Konrad Zuse Media Centre, Building 11, of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU).

In ten Christmas huts - provided by the city of Senftenberg and festively decorated by the operators - visitors to the Christmas market will find handmade gift ideas and Christmas baubles to decorate, as well as savoury and sweet food and warming drinks. The offer ranges from bratwurst to vegan waffles, from mulled wine to children's punch.

A varied programme with a performance by the Campus Senftenberg student choir, exciting chemistry experiments, a demonstration by the Scharfe dance school and other highlights such as chemistry experiments will enrich the student Christmas market on the second evening in particular. Santa Claus and his elves will be out and about with small gifts on both days of the event.

The Lusatian Bridge Building Competition will take place parallel to the Christmas market on Thursday, 11 December, from 4 p.m. to around 6 p.m. in the large lecture theatre of the Konrad Zuse Media Centre. Student BTU teams from Senftenberg and Cottbus as well as pupils from the Georg Heinsius von Mayenburg School in Brieske have registered for this exciting student competition organised by Mechanical Engineering . The aim of the bridge-building competition is to construct a bridge from a maximum of 250 ice cream sticks, 20 metres of parcel string and wood glue that can carry as much load as possible with as little dead weight as possible. The bridges are subjected to alternating load tests under the same conditions on a specially developed test rig until they break. The competition is organised by the Construction working group at Campus Senftenberg.

The BTU students are looking forward to welcoming many visitors of all ages.
