A good tradition - the FIRST LEGO League at BTU

150 pupils from various schools in Lusatia took part in this year's regional competition. On 24 January 2026, the teams showed where their strengths lie in the categories of research, robot design, robot game and basic values. Congratulations to the winners and runners-up.

The winners of this year's "Challenge" competition are:
1st place: Lego FrIEGs
2nd place: Blyskavka
3rd place: WeRobots

The two best Challenge teams, Lego FrIEGs and Blyskavka, have thus qualified for the next stage of the competition, which will take place in Wildau on 28 February 2026. The grand final will start on 18 and 19 April 2026 in Leipzig with a total of 25 teams.

The international robotics and research competition FIRST LEGO League Challenge involves school teams aged 9 to 16 from all over the region, including two teams supervised by BTU student teachers. They are all enthusiastic about LEGO, robotics and solving tricky tasks. The participants spend months preparing intensively to master the challenges in the four demanding categories (research, robot design, robot game and basic values). The skills in the STEM fields of Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Technology as well as teamwork and communication skills are particularly strengthened.

The theme of this year 's FIRST LEGO League 2025/26 is UNEARTHED - "Excavated - on the trail of treasures of the past". The children and young people will discover hidden treasures, mysterious artefacts and forgotten stories. The aim is to better understand the past in order to gain inspiration for shaping the future.
