Between jazz session and lecture theatre: Stella-Marie studies Singing at BTU
Stella-Marie is in her 3rd semester studying Instrumental and Vocal Performance and Teaching in the field of Jazz/Rock/Pop Singing at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
"My singing teacher at the time also studied at BTU. He highly recommended it to me," reports Stella-Marie. "But it was the teaching aspect that really appealed to me and I have to be honest and say that it's really very good here."
She is very happy with her decision to choose the study programme: "It's very informal here, which makes it all the nicer. You make friends straight away." Above all, Stella-Marie appreciates the many opportunities to put theory directly into practice. "Whether it's at our jazz sessions, which take place every second Thursday, or at end-of-semester concerts - making music together is definitely not neglected." She particularly appreciates the fact that the students have practice rooms at their disposal. "That's where we sometimes create one or two of our own songs. There's definitely plenty of room to develop."
If you're still unsure whether the degree programme is right for you, Stella-Marie recommends the trial course in April. "It gives you an insight into some of the courses and you can always speak to someone and ask questions." The student council is also available to answer questions. "The most important thing is to listen to what you enjoy most, and maybe music and this study programme is exactly what will fulfil you!"
