Discover BTU at the Open Day

Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) is opening its doors at its main campus in Cottbus. On Tuesday 23 June 2026, from 9 am to 4 pm, visitors can look forward to a varied programme offering information on all aspects of studying.

What study programmes does the university offer at its three campuses in Cottbus and Senftenberg – and which one is right for me? What is it like to attend a lecture? What is there to discover on campus? Lecturers, Staff Members and students from BTU will be on hand at the Open Day to answer these and many other questions. School pupils, and in particular those taking their A-levels, are very welcome, as are parents, teachers and graduates – anyone who would like to find out more about the modern range of courses offered by the university in Lusatia and Germany’s most dynamic city.

The varied programme, featuring introductory sessions and advisory services, includes not only basic information on studying – including co-op programmes – but also numerous course presentations. Visitors can also look forward to laboratory and campus tours, as well as exciting experiments – some of which they can take part in. No registration is required for the Study Information Day.

Focus on bachelor’s study programmes

The event kicks off with the lecture ‘Studying at the BTU’ from 9.00 am to 9.45 am in the Central Lecture Theatre Building, Audimax 1. Here, you can find information on all the university’s Bachelor’s study programmes, the application process, study abroad opportunities and more.

All-day activities

The central hub on campus is the foyer of the new canteen. Throughout the day, the team from student guidance and counselling will be available here for one-to-one information sessions, whilst the information stand on study abroad programmes will demonstrate how you can discover the world from the BTU.
Under the motto “Hands-on Science”, exhibits and information from the BTU’s academic and research fields will be presented. Presentations on the study programmes in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence Technology and Economathematics are entitled “Maths, Physics and AI – made easy!”.
The Studierendenwerk Ost:Brandenburg will provide information on funding options for studies and student accommodation. Student societies and initiatives will offer insights into active student life at the BTU.
Participants in the Study Information Day will be able to see for themselves the quality of the catering in the canteen, which only opened at the start of the year following extensive refurbishment and renovation work.

Follow your individual interests

On the Study Information Day, there is an opportunity to take a look at the modern laboratories and research facilities on the university campus, which are usually only accessible to university members. Visitors will learn how studying and research work and experience the campus atmosphere. Depending on their interests, they will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with study programmes or research facilities through programme sessions that change hourly, and to engage in conversation with lecturers and students.
