Pakistani Ambassador visits the BTU

What are the current priorities in research and development at the BTU? What are the prospects? Which degree programmes are of particular interest to students from Pakistan? What are the study conditions like? – Answers to these and other questions were the focus of the discussion with the three-member delegation from the Pakistani Embassy in Germany.  

Following a welcome address by Prof. Gesine Grande, President of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, Ambassador Saqlain Syedah discussed potential areas of collaboration with the Vice-President for Internationalisation, Prof. Wolfram Berger, and the Head of the International Relations Office (IRO), Mareike Kunze. In particular, the Ambassador was interested in BTU’s technical focus and potential points of contact for further discussions between BTU and interested universities in Pakistan. 

The second part of the meeting focused on the students: it was a constructive exchange during which members of the Pakistan Student Association at the BTU took the opportunity to raise suggestions and requests with the Ambassador and her Staff Members. The discussion was perceived by both sides as engaging and cordial.

Students from Pakistan make up the second-largest group of international students at BTU. The study programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Transformation Studies, Environmental and Resource Management, and Power Engineering are particularly popular.
