BAföG Tour of the BMBF informs students at the BTU

The BAföG team answers individual questions and also distributes information materials.

With the BAföG reform (27th BAföG Amendment Act), the state now provides significantly better support for young people - through higher need rates, higher allowances and an increase in the age limit. In addition, the digital application process will be simplified. To educate students about the improvements on site, a BAföG information tour by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will stop at 34 universities of applied sciences and universities across Germany in October, including at the Cottbus central campus of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Students are cordially invited to take advantage of this information offer.

The improvements at a glance: - Requirements rates increased: The maximum subsidy amount increases from 861 to 934 euros (8.47 percent more). - The group of eligible persons has been expanded: The parental income allowance has been increased from 2,000 euros to 2,415 euros (20.75 percent more). - Higher age limit: BAföG now also reaches people up to the age of 45. - Easier application: The digital application process is simplified. It is sufficient to set up a user account on "BAföG Digital" and use it to submit the digital application. - Higher allowances: The asset allowance will increase to 15,000 euros for applicants up to age 29. For people aged 30 and over, it will be raised to 45,000 euros.
