DAAD Prize 2024 of the BTU awarded to Karen Revoredo Khalil
This year, Karen Revoredo Khalil, a student on the Environmental and Resource Management (ERM) Bachelor's degree programme, was honoured. She impressed with her excellent academic performances and remarkable commitment in various areas. Ms Revoredo Khalil, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, grew up in Brazil, Germany and Austria and has been studying at BTU for three years.
She was nominated by Prof. Dr rer. nat. Klaus Birkhofer, Head of the Chair of Ecology. He emphasises: "Ms Revoredo Khalil is an outstanding student who impresses with both her academic achievements and her commitment. It is inspiring to see how she excels in both engineering and ecological disciplines while taking an active role in the university community." This year's laudatory speech was given by Prof. Dr Raab, Dean of Faculty 2, and the award ceremony traditionally took place as part of the matriculation ceremony at the start of the winter semester on 7 October 2024.
In addition to her academic successes, Ms Revoredo Khalil has been involved in the Departmental Committee of the ERM study programme at BTU as treasurer since 2023. She also works as a tutor and is fluent in four languages. During her time at school in Brazil, she won numerous awards in the fields of Mathematics and Robotics.
The DAAD prize honours international students and highlights their valuable contributions to German universities. Their individual stories are representative of the enrichment they bring to both their host universities and their home countries. The award winners of today are the partners of tomorrow in science, politics and business.
