The information on this page is essential for applying for a Deutschlandstipendium. Please read all the information carefully before you apply.
General
As part of the national scholarship program "Deutschlandstipendium", the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg awards scholarships to particularly talented, high-achieving and socially committed students. Half of the funding for this program comes from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and half from private sponsors.
The central criterion for awarding the scholarships is special talent and performance. In addition, the previous personal career, social and family circumstances, social commitment and special successes can be taken into account (see § 2 of the Scholarship Program Ordinance - StipV).
Important notes
- Application: The application for the Deutschlandstipendium is made via the online portal. Your application will be assessed on the basis of selection criteria (academic achievements, social commitment, social, family and personal circumstances). Please upload the documents listed in the checklist. In addition, please submit proof of social, political and/or personal commitment, proof of special personal, social or family circumstances (examples can be found in the checklist for evidence) and proof of other sources of funding (e.g. BAföG, scholarships).
- Using the online portal: Please only use the online portal for your application. Unfortunately, e-mails or scans cannot be processed.
- Minimum performance score: The minimum performance score is ≤2.5. Applications with an average grade of >2.5 will be rejected.
- File format: Attachments can only be uploaded to the online application portal in PDF format.
- Deadlines and completeness: Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered. Subsequent submission of documents is not possible.
- Timely submission: Please submit your application in good time. Uploading documents takes some time. The application portal closes automatically on July 11, 2025 at 11:59 pm. No more applications will be possible after this time.
- Language translations: If the application documents are not written in German or English, an officially certified translation in German must be enclosed.University entrance qualification: Applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification must enclose the UNI-ASSIST examination certificate with the German average grade with their application.
- Decision and notification: A selection committee decides on the awarding of scholarships. Each applicant will receive written notification of the decision on his/her application. The scholarships will be awarded at a ceremony.
- Queries: To avoid queries, please state your course of study, the degree you are aiming for and your semester of study when sending questions by e-mail.
Scholarships for the winter semester 2025/26
There are 12 scholarships awarded in the current call, including 2 without subject allocation (subject to final funding allocation):

The scholarship amounts to € 300 per month and will initially be paid for two semesters (winter semester 2025/26 and summer semester 2026). If the requirements are met and financial resources are available, the scholarship can be extended upon application until the end of the standard period of study.

*In the case the applicant will take a leave of absence in the winter semester, an explanation for the absence must be included with the application (e.g. an ERASMUS stay abroad or a mandatory internship). In addition , please submit proof of social, political and/or personal commitment, proof of special personal, social or family circumstances (examples can be found in the checklist for evidence) and proof of other sources of funding (e.g. BAföG, scholarships).Students with a foreign university entrance qualification should submit their UNI-ASSIST notification with the average grade converted into the German system.
