Start into the future after successful studies

In a festive atmosphere, the graduates of the application-oriented bachelor's and master's degree programs in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg were bid farewell.

The Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Energy Systems Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kathrin Lehmann welcomed not only the current students but also their relatives and other guests as well as lecturers and staff in the large lecture hall of the Konrad Zuse Media Center on October 14, 2022.

"Behind you - probably also behind us - lies a time that you found difficult in the past, that you look back on proudly in the present as 'I made it' and that will be filed away in your memory in the future as 'they were nice years'!" said Professor Lehmann. "Today, let's look back together on your successful studies, which culminated in the period from October 2019 to September 2022."

In this exceptionally long period, in which a ceremonial presentation of certificates was not possible due to the situation, 130 students were able to successfully complete their studies. Together with Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Sylvio Simon and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Konrad Wälder, the Vice Dean presented the Bachelor's and Master's certificates to the graduates present on behalf of their fellow students and acknowledged their achievements.

"You have a path behind you that you can look back on with pride! And I assure you - we also look back with satisfaction - on a common path whose goal we have successfully achieved together," she emphasized.

Exactly 20 years ago, Stephan Hernschier, now an academic staff member in the mechanical engineering program, graduated from Senftenberg. In his speech, he congratulated the current graduates and gave them valuable advice for a successful future.

Anna Tabea Tiede - a student of instrumental and vocal pedagogy at the BTU - provided the musical framework for the event with her vocal performances, celebrating the graduates with, among other things, interpretations of well-known titles and lyrics such as "a toast to us, to this life", and whetting the appetite "for what is yet to come".

"If we want it, we meet more than twice in a lifetime! And the paths have a common piece every now and then," said Prof. Kathrin Lehmann in her closing remarks. "We - the colleagues - would be pleased if we were allowed to share in your professional successes - informatively, but also where it arises, gladly with further contacts!"
