Digitalization - a key to the future of Lusatia's SMEs

The Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) and the Mining and Generation Technology - Made in Germany (MinGenTec) network invite you to the 8th BTU Transfer Day on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the BTU's main campus in Cottbus. The focus topic is "Digitization in Lusatian SMEs - Innovative ways into the future".

The BTU Transfer Day brings companies and science together - the ideal opportunity for an exchange on innovations, modern technologies, current research topics and cooperation offers. For the first time, the BTU and the network MinGenTec on December 6 from 12 to 6 p.m. in the start-up center Starting Block B2, Siemens-Halske-Ring 2, 03046 Cottbus, are jointly organizing such a transfer event for the first time.

Interested parties, especially scientists and company representatives, can find the program and registration options at https://www.b-tu.de/transfertag.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Michael Hübner, Full-time Vice President for Research and Transfer at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, explains: "BTU sees itself as having a special responsibility to support companies with its know-how and scientific expertise, in particular in the field of digitalization. Digitalization is the key to innovation and to attracting and developing skilled workers. It also enables knowledge to be shared and opens up new horizons for new technologies and collaboration."

Dr. Christina Eisenberg, Project Manager of MinGenTec, emphasizes: "The topic of digitalization runs through all processes of the companies organized in the MinGenTec network and plays a decisive role in future research and development projects, as our company survey at the beginning of the year showed. That is why we are dedicating ourselves to this topic in cooperation with the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg at the Transfer Day. The aim is to pool the expertise of Lusatian companies and scientific institutions in order to develop innovative projects and make them ready for the market."

The MinGenTec initiative's company survey revealed a particularly high demand for information from small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of digitalization. Participants noted that they were still not sufficiently aware of the opportunities to participate in future research and development projects.

The program of the 8th BTU Transfer Day includes keynote speeches on the focus topic and short presentations of various proven digitization projects in business and science, as well as valuable information in thematic blocks on funding and financing opportunities from the Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation. Special attention will be paid to the role of digitalization in maintenance, servicing and repair in practice, as well as its potential to counter the shortage of skilled workers.

Tours and visits
Company representatives who want to see for themselves what technical equipment is available at BTU will have the opportunity to do so before the regular start of the event - from 11 am. Guided tours and visits offer perfect insights into projects, experiments and research centers, which can serve as inspiration for your own tasks. Scientists will be available on site to answer questions and provide explanations.  Registrations are requested.

Background:
The aim of the Transfer Day event format is to provide companies with interesting ideas from new scientific findings, to share practical experience and valuable ideas and to present exciting projects. BTU and MinGenTec would therefore like to offer scientists and company representatives a platform for the exchange of know-how and experience as well as new findings and innovative solutions from research on these specific topics.
MinGenTec - the partner network of the 8th BTU Transfer Day - is an initiative of Wirtschaftsförderung Land Brandenburg GmbH and IHK Cottbus. Other partners are Wirtschaftsförderung Sachsen and IHK Dresden (represented by the Görlitz office). The initiative "Mining and Generation Technology - Made in Germany" (MinGenTec) is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag as part of the STARK project NeLaBra.
