Hazardous substances are substances or mixtures that are explosive, oxidising, highly flammable, highly flammable, flammable, very toxic, toxic, harmful to health, corrosive, irritant, sensitising, carcinogenic, toxic to reproduction, mutagenic, harmful to the environment or have other chronically harmful properties (Chemicals Act, Hazardous Substances Ordinance).

The manufacturer or supplier must provide a safety data sheet in German free of charge at the latest with the first delivery. This safety data sheet must contain information on Identification of the substance, information on the components, possible hazards, first aid measures, fire and explosion hazards, measures in case of accidental release, storage and handling, limitation and monitoring of exposure/personal protective equipment, physical and chemical properties, stability and reactivity, toxicological information, environmental information, information on disposal, information on transport, information on applicable regulations and other information on the H (Hazard Statement) and P (Precautionary Statement) phrases.
