About Us
Since 2012, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and Helwan University are cooperating in the implementation of the Joint Master in Heritage Conservation and Site Management (HCSM). Through this master pogramme, both universities endeavour to contribute to the protection of heritage by endowing graduates with the multidisciplinary skills required for the assessment of significance as well as the management and conservation of cultural heritage sites. For further information on the master programme, kindly visit our website.
A second component of this German Egyptian cooperation is the organisation of an annual conference which is dedicated to a different heritage-related topic each year. For information on the last conference in 2017, titled “Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development: A Tourism Perspective”, click here.
HCSM was developed and implemented within the framework of the German-Arab Transformation Partnership which was set up by the German Federal Foreign Office with the intention of supporting the modernisation of higher education, employability of graduates, scientific innovation and the emergence of democracy and the rule of law in Egypt and Tunisia. The conference will be held in cooperation with the German Archaeological Institute, ArcHerNet and Helwan University.
