Transformation in Lusatia: A delegation from Poland on a flying visit to the Lausitz Science Park

As part of the "Transformation in Lusatia" tour, representatives from the Upper Silesian industrial region of Katowice visited the Lausitz Science Park in Cottbus on 24 September 2025. Dr. Markus Schwenke, head of the BTU project, and Dr. Lars Scharnholz from the Institute for New Industrial Culture INIK GmbH explained to the visitors the special features of this location and how it is set to develop.

The tour was jointly developed by the University of Economics in Katowice, the Polish Chamber of Mining Industry and Commerce (GIPH) and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg. The aim of the programme was to exchange experiences and perspectives on regional transformation in coal mining regions. A particular focus was on transformation projects related to companies.
