Research Stay of Barış Altan at Dumbarton Oaks, Washington D.C.

This summer, Barış Altan, doctoral fellow of Research Training Group 1913, was accepted as a short-term summer scholar by the most renowned research institution in the field of Byzantine studies, Dumbarton Oaks library, museum and garden.

Dumbarton Oaks is a Harvard University research institute based in Washington, D.C. and holds various fellowship programs to invite scholars from across the globe to study the rich archival collections and learn Byzantine, Garden and Landscape and Pre-Columbian studies in an international environment. Barış Altan was invited for a short-term stay between 15 July and 15 August to complete archival research for his PhD on "Architect Cahide Tamer's Personal Archive. Approaching Byzantine Heritage of Istanbul through Restoration Practices".
