BTU President represents the University at the EUNICE General Assembly in Finland

The EUNICE universities, which include the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, met for a general assembly in Finland to advance the institutionalization of the association and cooperation with the three new partner universities.

The European University of Tailored Education - EUNICE, gathered, rectors and staff of the ten universities, a total of about 100 representatives, on the occasion of the fourth general assembly in Finland. The transnational meeting was hosted by the University of Vaasa from 14-16 February 2023. Two weeks after the submission of the renewal application for the "European Universities" initiative to the European Commission, the motivation to move the consortium forward is clearly noticeable. Together, a summary was drawn of which offers were particularly well received by the students, in order to continuously improve the range of education. Afterwards, the concentrated knowledge was used in brainstorming to develop new teaching formats, joint courses of study and uniform badges.

The BTU delegation consisted of ten people in total, including President Prof. Dr. Gesine Grande, Vice President for Research and Transfer Prof. Dr. Michael Hübner, EUNICE Project Manager Dr. Markus Schwenke, and Head of the International Relation Office Mareike Kunze.

With the words "Hei, hyvää päivää" the representatives of the European Alliance were welcomed. The rector of the University of Vaasa and other high-ranking representatives from the city and the country opened the three-day meeting with a festive opening ceremony. Afterwards, various working groups reflected on milestones achieved so far. The international internship database, the cultural and sporting activities within the framework of the "EUNICE Weeks" and the comprehensive online course catalog on the joint virtual campus deserve special mention. But future goals, such as joint educational offerings or transnational platforms and workshops, were also on the agenda. For example, in order to further simplify mobility opportunities, cooperation between the individual Internation Relation Offices will be deepened.

The continuous mission to advance institutionalization was accompanied by the first general assembly of AISBL (AISBL: Association Internationale Sans But Lucratif). Since November 2022, EUNICE has been operating as an international non-profit association. The ten partner universities used the meeting in Vaasa to finalize the structures, such as the constitution of the Board of Directors, or to plan organizational matters, such as the budget for the coming years. With the three new partner universities, the institution of the European University Alliance EUNICE now comprises 150,000 students.

The initiative enables students from the participating universities to access the common learning offer, to exchange with European students and lecturers and to live a multicultural experience.
