Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder) welcomes new Manager

On April 19, 2024, the Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder) welcomed its new Managing Director Dorit Wehling in a ceremonial appointment.

The event marks the beginning of a new phase in the Studentenwerk's history and its efforts to continuously improve the support and promotion of students in eastern Brandenburg.

Prof. Dr. Magdalena Mißler-Behr, board chairperson, commented on the upcoming event: "We are on the threshold of a new phase for Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder), as a wide range of social, political and economic challenges and changes need to be mastered. We will only be able to meet these challenges through targeted, dynamic and joint action as well as fair cooperation between all those involved. With Ms. Wehling, we are gaining a leader whose experience and vision will steer the Studentenwerk in a future-oriented direction. I am convinced that her leadership will contribute significantly to the further development of our services for students."

Monique Zweig, the outgoing Managing Director, looks back on her time at the Studentenwerk with pride: "The years I spent working for the Studentenwerk were characterized by challenges, successes and tireless commitment to the students. I am grateful for my companions and the milestones we have achieved together. With Ms. Wehling, I know that the Studentenwerk is in the best hands and I look forward to the new impetus she will bring."

Dorit Wehling, the new Managing Director, shares her motivation and plans: "It is a great honor and pleasure for me to take over the leadership of Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder). Together with the team, I would like to further develop the social services for students and ensure that our services become even more targeted and effective. I look forward to working with everyone involved and am ready to break new ground together."

Background:

Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder) is responsible for organizing the social infrastructure at the universities in southern and eastern Brandenburg (Frankfurt (Oder), Eberswalde, Cottbus, Senftenberg). To this end, it manages catering facilities and residential complexes, provides student support measures, in particular the implementation of the Federal Training Assistance Act and the granting of loans, and provides advice and assistance in social and cultural areas. With this range of services, the Studentenwerk is an important part of the German higher education system for more equal opportunities and efficiency in studies.
