Clear the stage for science - that was the 3rd Brandenburg Science Slam in Spremberg

With a packed cinema hall and 110 guests, the 3rd Brandenburg Science Slam on June 7, 2024 was a great success in Spremberg. The scientists from Brandenburg's university and research landscape entertained the audience with humorous and informative contributions.

A varied program

In addition to the five great science slam contributions, the evening offered many other highlights. Michael Christopher entertained the audience with a rousing poetry slam that was not only thought-provoking but also provided plenty of laughs. The event was accompanied by music from the talented jazz band FFF JAZZCOLLECTIVE feat. Paul Bäns, whose sounds created a relaxed atmosphere. An exciting quiz rounded off the program and gave guests the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test and win great prizes.

The winner of the evening: Dr. Robert Scheffler

The focus of the evening was the competition between scientists, in which Dr. Robert Scheffler from the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg came out on top. With his presentation "Theft is to be expected - How Mathematics guards art" he was able to convince the audience and was chosen as the winner of the evening by the audience. Congratulations, Dr. Scheffler!

Our talented slammers

A big thank you goes to all the participants who enriched the evening with their contributions:

  • Niklas Flössel and Paulina Eiselt (Team Lausitz Dynamics from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg): "LaDy-Gator on Tour"
  • Tim Cech from the University of Potsdam: "Artificial intelligence, infinite expanses"
  • Dr. Marten Klein from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg: "The humpback whale in the velodrome - of fins and bicycle forks"
  • Simon Wilbers from the TH Wildau: "Limits of the automatable"

Each of the slammersbrought unique perspectives and fascinating topics that not only informed but also entertained the audience.

Thanks to our supporters

We would also like to thank our presenter Jens Herrmann from BB Radio, who hosted the evening with charm and humor. We would also like to thank the FFF JAZZCOLLECTIVE feat. Paul Bäns for the great musical accompaniment and the Spreekino team for their excellent cooperation. Without this support, this successful evening would not have been possible.

The 3rd Brandenburg Science Slam was a complete success and we are already looking forward to the next one, when it will once again be: Clear the stage for science!
