Nationwide campaign "Universities show attitude" - BTU is part of it
The aim of the campaign is to take a stand against right-wing extremist influence and attacks on universities and to make a commitment on social media to an open, supportive and free culture of science and higher education. At the same time, it aims to draw attention to existing anti-democratic influences and attacks to which actors at universities are increasingly exposed.
According to a statement by the alliance, the campaign is a commitment to fundamental democratic values and draws attention to the dangers to a democratic and supportive university culture in light of current political developments.
The alliance calls on politicians to protect freedom of research and teaching equally in all disciplines, to provide universities with adequate resources and to promote an open culture of welcome.
The campaign ‘Universities Take a Stand’ was launched on 13 October 2025 and is supported by, among others, the Network Against Discrimination at Universities, the Network for Diversity at Universities and the Federal Conference of Women's and Equal Opportunities Officers at Universities (bukof), of which BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is also a member.
