COCO - a meeting and creative space introduces itself

As part of the BTU teaching project "COCO - Commoning Cottbus" at the Urban Management chair, a place is being created in Cottbus city centre that will serve as a meeting place for students, residents and interested parties.

As an open space for ideas, COCO aims to bring topics such as urbanity, sustainability and democracy into focus and make them visible through practice-orientated activities and events. The students want to invite urban society to discuss, develop and experiment with ideas together.

The project was initiated by the Urban Management chair at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in cooperation with urban stakeholders and initiatives.

COCO consists of two rooms in Cottbus' Schlosskirchpassage and, together with Opferperspektive, Losmachen and Freies Radio, has contributed to the revitalisation of the long vacant passage.

The rooms have technical equipment such as a projector and WLAN, which enables spontaneous and flexible use. The COCO is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 14:00 to 18:00.

The COCO is run by a student project team that is made up of students from the Urban Planning and Urban Design study programme every semester. The team takes care of the daily operation of the rooms and the recurring events in the COCO so that it is as easy as possible for outsiders to use.

You can get to know the team on 17 December 2025 at the Lehmbau Christmas market or at a cosy games evening on 3 January 2025 at 6 pm in the COCO rooms. MusiCOCO also takes place every Wednesday at 7 pm. Here you can make music together.

It's worth coming along!
Anyone interested is also welcome to organise an event or meeting themselves.
