Energy & Change: ‘The Night of Creative Minds’ offers plenty of opportunities to look to the future

Anyone wishing to take part in this journey into the future should not miss this highlight.

The BTU has been one of the NDKK’s events right from the start. This year, 36 programme items spread across eight floors offer activities for the whole family, presentations and experiments on the future-oriented topics of our time. The university demonstrates what transformation means and how modern technologies and sustainability influence our lives and our society. 

The varied programme is aimed at young and old alike: whether it’s about living a balanced life or gaining insights into a Greenland expedition, whether it involves solving puzzles or testing your dexterity and accuracy – there’s something for everyone in the hands-on area. A glimpse into the capabilities of robots and drones, a look at life without plastic, or an insight into the working world of tomorrow offers young people in particular new perspectives on their own futures. These are perspectives designed to encourage them to think critically and help shape the future. 

And what about energy generation and the energy transition? BTU scientists also have plenty to say and show on these topics: From lightweight construction using plastics to green aviation fuel, from the world of reactors and catalysts to hydrogen in internal combustion engines, from tiny spheres packed with energy to virtual reality – there are no limits to creativity. For anyone who wants to find out more than a single evening can offer, there’s a chance to discover, in a fun and interactive way, which BTU study programmes match their own interests.

For the 18th time, the university and other venues across Cottbus are opening their doors as part of the Night of Creative Minds. At BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, researchers, students and the university’s partners will be taking part with experiments, hands-on activities and advisory sessions, demonstrations, workshops, performances, talks and a wide range of activities for the whole family.
