Following on from the positive experiences of the previous year, the second onboarding event for new doctoral candidates took place at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in 2026. As in the previous year, the event provided valuable networking opportunities and a chance to strengthen ties within the doctoral student community.

Works by architecture students from the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) will be on display on Friday and Saturday, 16 and 17 October 2026, at the Alte Puschkinschule, Spremberger Str. 18, in Welzow. Anyone interested is warmly invited to attend. The opening of this exhibition will take place on Friday at 4 pm.

The aim is for excellent research to lead to the development of specific technologies, businesses and jobs for the region: it is with this objective in mind that the Energy Innovation Centre (EIZ) at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is embarking on its second five-year funding phase.

From 2 to 6 November 2026, we will once again be celebrating the linguistic diversity of EUNICE. To mark the occasion, we are organising a week of language-related activities outside the regular teaching programme, under the theme ‘On the Move’.

The Centre for Hybrid Electric Systems Cottbus (chesco) is demonstrating, through the successful TAF I project, – Transfer of Agile Manufacturing Processes – how scientific expertise is being transformed into innovative technology transfer for the Lusatia region – ranging from various 3D printing processes for plastics and metals to new further training programmes.

At the 14th International Conference on LEEM/PEEM in Tokyo, Björn Riedel won the ‘Ernst Bauer Student Poster Award’, which was presented for the first time. It was Bauer who first invented low-energy electron microscopy (LEEM).

From the current 2026/27 winter semester, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) will be launching a course in Sorbian/Wendish as a teaching subject as part of its Bachelor’s degree programmes for the Teaching Degree for Primary Education. The first students were warmly welcomed to the Campus Senftenberg/Zły Komorow on 8 October.

On Saturday, 10 October 2026, the LausitzLabs will launch at Start Block B2 in Cottbus. From day one, the BTU has been investigating how the concept drives structural change. With the LausitzLabs, a coherent and scalable educational ecosystem is being established in Lusatia for STEM, media and digital education, as well as democratic participation.
