PhD candidate Marina de Castro, from the Chair of Technoscience Studies, was among the presenters. The conference, themed "Cities at the Boundaries," explored the urban dimension of infrastructural development over the past two and a half centuries, covering a broad variety of topics, such as social and economic development, environmental challenges, and the making of the history of such phenomena.

During the conference, Marina presented her research on the historical patterns of infrastructure provision in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, Brazil, focusing on developments from the 20th century to the recent impacts of the devastating floods of May 2024.

Her work was selected as part of the session titled "Borders, Infrastructures and Places in the Modern City," organized by Dra. Erika Hanna from the University of Bristol and co-chaired by Dr. Samuel Grinsell from the University College of London. This session examined the relationships between urban environments and infrastructural changes.
