A co-op programme in Environmental Sciences not only opens up excellent career prospects, but also enables students to establish themselves with an employer whilst still studying. This is achieved through practical placements (shown in purple) during the lecture-free periods. Students benefit from this integration throughout their studies, as the theoretical knowledge they acquire can be immediately applied in practice, or conversely, practical topics can be incorporated into their theoretical studies.
Practical placements & work-based modules (work-based phases)
In four of the eight practical placements, students must complete practical modules (fixed, off-campus modules, ‘work placements’). The topics for these are agreed in advance between the supervisor at the placement partner, the student and the responsible staff member. Students carry out the work during a practical placement at the placement partner’s premises. The results are then presented at the university and assessed by the responsible staff member.

Practical modules 3 and 4 (Bachelor internship and Bachelor Thesis) take place in the 7th semester, which you will therefore spend entirely with the partner organisation. You are free to choose when to complete practical modules 1 and 2.
