EUNICE General Assembly in Italy: Online participation possible

After three years, it is time to draw a conclusion. From September 18 to 20, the University of Catania (Italy) invites the ten partner universities to a plenary meeting. The transnational meeting of the European University Alliance EUNICE will be used as an opportunity to take stock, to plan the next steps of the consortium in the new project phase and to shape the future of European higher education.

For the first time and right at the beginning of the event, the general public will have the opportunity to participate in part of the plenary session: On the morning of September 18, starting at 10:00 a.m., the review of the past three project years as well as the current status of EUNICE will be presented. From 11:30, the work of the individual work packages will be presented to the guests on site and to those interested online.

More than 100 participants will gather for the transnational network meeting, including administrative Staff Members and many Rectors of the ten EUNICE universities. The BTU delegation will consist of nine people, including the Vice President for Research and Transfer Prof. Dr. Michael Hübner, the Scientific Director of International Affaires Prof. Dr. Michael Schmidt, the Head of the International Relation Office Mareike Kunze and the EUNICE Project Coordinator Janina Biell.

Together with the colleagues from the other partner universities, future projects will be discussed during the three-day meeting, research topics will be initiated and offers for students and Staff Members will be concretized.

The General Assembly will also provide an opportunity to plan strategies focused on aligning academic and administrative processes among partner universities, expanding joint offerings, supporting multilingualism and intercultural awareness, developing and promoting pedagogical excellence and innovation in the consortium. One thing is certain: future initiatives to promote transnational mobility and personalized learning will contribute to the social, economic, environmental and cultural development of each of the participating university campuses.

Background:

EUNICE (European University for Customised Education), are universities from different European countries with a common DNA: all universities are medium-sized and strongly anchored locally, they are in a process of structural change, and students are the focus of interest everywhere. Tailor-made course offerings are being created for precisely these students in order to prepare them in the best possible way for the European job market. The alliance is supported by ten universities: the Poznań University of Technology (Poland), the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (Germany), the University of Cantabria (Spain), the University of Mons (Belgium), the University of Catania (Italy), the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (France), the University of Vaasa (Finland) and, with the new project phase, the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (Portugal), the University of Peloponnese (Greece) and the University of Karlstad (Sweden).
