Thesis abroad - starting signal for international professional experience

Within the framework of EUNICE, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg offers an international database for theses. Students can choose from over 160 offers and write their thesis abroad.

Enter topic, destination country and desired date - just a few details and clicks and the database will show the desired results. The offers from European countries of the EUNICE partner universities are diverse, written in English and allow direct contact with the employer. In some cases, the temporary cooperation is even remunerated.

For students it is a worthwhile combination, because they can finish their studies and spend the winter in Finland, for example, or the summer in a Spanish company on the side. In addition to the global input and a multicultural view of the subject, language skills can be refreshed and initial international work experience gained.

In the form of internships abroad, this has been possible since 2022 with the alliance international internship database. One of the most important innovations following further developments of the database is the EUNICEInternational Thesis Portal.

Originally, the platform was developed to facilitate the integration of students into the working world and to fund their mobility. Now, Bachelor and Master students as well as doctoral candidates can also write practice-oriented theses across national borders. When it comes to funding, the well-known Erasmus programs provide support. Advice on funding opportunities and recognition issues is provided by the International Relations Office of the sending university.

The portal is constantly growing and being updated. There are now more than 160 entries from companies, research centers, NGOs and other institutions from eight European countries of the EUNICE partner universities. The offering companies and academic institutions can advertise their offers quickly, easily and independently on the central online platform. After registration, further current offers can be placed online free of charge at any time.

The advantages of the network are obvious for all participants - exchange of experience, knowledge transfer and international networking. University laboratories and research centers, commercial enterprises and official institutions will employ multinational teams and tackle the challenges of the future. In addition to linking science and business, there will also be opportunities for cooperation between supervisors of theses from the home university and the host country.

The European University Alliance EUNICE will further promote the offers and opportunities for international mobility. Currently, the Brandenburg University of Technology (Germany), the Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France (France), the Poznan University of Technology (Poland), the University of Catania (Italy), the University of Mons (Belgium), the University of Cantabria (Spain), the University of Vaasa (Finland) and the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (Portugal) are participating.
