Sexism in everyday life - recognize, name, act

The online seminar provides an exemplary overview of where and how we are confronted with sexism in everyday life and what options for action are available to us as those directly or indirectly affected.

Sexism, i.e. discrimination against a person on the basis of gender, can occur in various forms and situations. Sometimes as an open devaluation and crossing of boundaries, but also more subtly through stereotypical attributions or structural discrimination. Especially in male-dominated areas, such as local politics, everyday sexism is a common phenomenon. The online seminar provides an exemplary overview of where and how we are confronted with sexism in everyday life and what options for action are available to us as those directly or indirectly affected.

The event is part of the awareness-raising measures of the Equal Opportunities Office of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg for dealing with sexualized harassment, discrimination and violence at universities.
