GROW Conference 2024 - International Mathematics Conference at BTU

International experts from the fields of discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science met at the Cottbus main campus of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) from 9 to 12 September 2024 for the GROW Conference (Graph Classes, Optimization, and Width Parameters) 2024.

The GROW conference is an established scientific conference that has already taken place ten times since 2001 at various locations in Europe, Asia and North America, for example in Vienna, Toronto and Barcelona. BTU has now succeeded in bringing this conference to Germany for the first time and in obtaining financial support from the German Research Foundation (DFG).

The topic of the conference is graph theory, i.e. the scientific description of all kinds of networks. These networks are used on a daily basis in numerous areas of application. For example, they are used to calculate routes in navigation devices, to plan delivery routes for parcel delivery companies and to help analyze social networks. The complexity of these application tasks is often extremely high. The research topic of the conference is the utilization of special structures of such networks that can simplify the solution of these tasks.

The application questions mentioned are closely related to the key research areas of the BTU and in particular to the work of the chair "Discrete Mathematics and Foundations of Computer Science", which is organizing this conference in Cottbus. The conference is held every other year.
