The chair of Distributed Measurement Systems and Sensor Networks is s a joint professorship with the IHP - Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics in Frankfurt (Oder).

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Krzysztof Piotrowski is the leader of the Intelligent Internet of Things Systems (IIoTS) within the Cyber-Physical System Engineering department (formerly Wireless Systems) and also holds the professorship in Distributed Measurement Systems and Sensor Networks.

The aim of the IIoTS research group is to address in a formal and technical way the structure/architecture and requirements of data-focused applications and systems, ranging from sensors to cloud. The goal is to combine formality and modularity, covering all application lifecycle steps related to data gathering, processing and exchange, within both, hardware and software blocks. In the era of massive data-driven applications, aspects like interoperability, energy efficiency, scalability, security and privacy play a crucial role and the goal of the IIoTS group is to address these in a comprehensive and holistic approach.
