The Faculty 1 with the areas of mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, physics and medical technology is the faculty for basic sciences of the BTU. Mathematics and methodology paired with reliable, secure, ubiquitous, distributed data processing and the underlying electronic components form the basis for science, research and teaching at a technical university. The methods and algorithms developed here are used, for example, to prevent disasters, help people in distress, safely direct traffic flows or control industrial systems. Wireless communication technologies are essential in this context, as the digital world of tomorrow will not be able to operate without them. Within the BTU's four profile lines, the faculty sees its potential in contributing to and shaping the Artificial Intelligence and Sensor Technology profile line.
