Qualification Programme

The qualification programme of ['skai]-lab is divided into four qualification levels:

1. Individual PhD project:

Each PhD candidate pursues his/her individual PhD project on an aviation-relevant research topic. Customised secondments to industrial partners, public institutions and/or international R&D partners are welcomed and specially supported.

2. Coordinated qualification programme on central technical topics and selected transferable skills:

To ensure that all PhD candidates have an in-depth understanding of the technological and scientific fundamentals, the entire aviation component value chain, "flightworthiness" and technology acceptance/economic framework conditions, these competences and aspects will be taught in three one-week summer schools and additionally through web-based seminars. The summer schools will also train PhD candidates in so-called transferable skills. During the summer schools, there will also be a sufficient framework for the intensive exchange of research results in the individual PhD projects.

3. Local training on specialist areas, transferable skills, communication, and utilisation:

All PhD candidates have the opportunity to participate in further training events, specialist lectures, and scientific discussions at their respective institutions and thus gain expert qualifications. These programmes complement the training content of the summer schools.

4. Individual career coaching and support with commercialisation strategies:

The coordinated qualification measures are flanked by individual coaching offers on career planning and utilisation strategies for the own results. In addition to the supervising scientists and colleagues from the participating institutions, network partners from industry and politics are involved and the services available at the institutions are used (BAM: Graduate Academy, Research Coordination, Welcome Office; BTU: Graduate Research School, DLR: Graduate Program).
