Start-up funding
The ‘Start-up Financing’ workshop covers the key principles and tools of start-up financing. It examines both traditional and alternative forms of financing.
Participants will gain insights into the following topics:
- Legal forms of companies and their impact on financing options
- Financing via bank loans
- Funding schemes offered by KfW
- Micro-mezzanine funds as a supplementary source of financing
- Public funding for start-ups
- Financing through investors
- Determining the capital requirements for start-up projects
- Distinguishing between investment and working capital
In addition to expert input, the workshop provides an opportunity for individual questions and an open discussion session in which specific projects can be discussed.
The event is aimed at students, researchers, those interested in starting a business and entrepreneurs who wish to explore the financial fundamentals of their start-up. Participation is mandatory for EXIST Women 2026 participants.

Katrin Andresen is a management consultant specialising in business plans and financing strategies for start-ups and SMEs. She supports female founders in developing viable business concepts and in applying for grants and financing from banks, KfW and investors.
